From left to right Bruce, Bill, Foster and W.A Hewitt

My great grandfather was William Abraham Hewitt.. In many ways he was more influential to Canadian hockey and sports than his legendary son (my grandfather) Foster William Hewitt. W.A, hobnobbed with the Canadian sports pioneers of that era through his connections as Sports Editor of the Star newspaper . W.A.'s passion leaning towards a new fangled gismo called a radio eventually lead Foster to walk the walk of legendary sportscaster and Canadian hockey icon, as he became known. My father Foster William Alfred Hewitt better know as "Bill" Hewitt, followed in his father's footsteps and was an amazing sportscaster in his own right. I still have to remind people to this day that the voice they heard calling the Maple Leaf Hockey games on TV through the fifties, sixties and seventies was  NOT Foster but his son Bill.  Foster did the radio play by play and some interviews and of course picked the Molson three stars of the game!
It still surprises me that there are so many people who still seem interested in the Hockey Hewitts! Hence the reason we as a family have decided to create this web site. Hopefully we can do justice to three men who worked very hard and sacrificed much. Also we would like to share some family photos, personal antidotes, favourite stories and insights into the personalities of these inspiring and yet down to earth, men. Our Hewitt family tree has continued to grow and we will introduce you to our families.
This project seems a little overwhelming right now as it has just begun and we pray you will be patient with us. Thank you for being interested….Today is September 26th/2003 …..
"I personally dedicate this in loving memory of my father and best friend …Bill Hewitt.' "You were the best dad"" The best friend I ever had." I miss our daily phone calls and I'll love you forever!!"
